Lama Chonam

Lama Chonam, Choying Namgyal, was born in the Golog area of eastern Tibet in 1964. His root teacher, Khenpo Munsel, was a direct disciple of one of the great Dzogchen masters of the twentieth century, Khenpo Ngagchung. Lama Chonam escaped Tibet in 1992 and later came to the US where he met and studied under the close guidance of his primary teacher, Dungsei Thinley Norbu Rinpoche. In 1999 Lama Chonam helped establish the Light of Berotsana Translation Group. Over the past two decades, in addition to teaching Buddhist view, meditation and the Tibetan language — Lama Chonam co-translates and publishes books and assists in providing oral translation for Khenchen Namdrol Rinpoche’s Dzogchen teachings in the US and abroad.
